Travis Head of Australia has risen to a career-high second place in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, making him a strong contender for the top spot, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC). He is currently only nine points behind Kane Williamson, who is ranked first. Similarly, Pakistan’s Babar Azam has risen three places to third in the rankings.
Travis Head has been in outstanding form during the current Ashes series, scoring 373 runs at an average of 93.25. He is the series’ top run-scorer with two centuries and two half-centuries to his credit. Babar Azam, on the other hand, has also been effective, scoring 276 runs at an average of 69.33. He is the second-highest run-scorer in the series with a total of one century and two half-centuries.
If they are able to continue their strong play in the upcoming games, Head and Azam both have a chance to take the top spot. The head will try to score a lot in the final two Ashes games, and Azam will try to score a lot in the two-game Test series against Sri Lanka.
The ICC Test batting rankings take into account a player’s performance over the previous 84 innings and are updated after each Test match. The player at the top is regarded as the best Test batsman in the world.
According to the ICC, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has risen three places to third place, while Australian players Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, as well as England’s Joe Root, have all dropped one spot. This creates an exciting race for the top spot in the rankings.
