According to local reports, the 17-year-old boy suspected of shooting two Denver high school administrators during a routine weapon check on Wednesday died of an apparent suicide.
According to law enforcement sources, police discovered Austin Lyle’s body near his car around 9 p.m.
The 2005 Volvo XC90 in red was discovered in a remote mountain area about 50 miles southwest of Denver.
Cops informed residents that the shelter-in-place orders had been lifted.
“They should be relieved that we came up here and solved the problem,” Park County Sheriff Tom McGraw said.
“Be comfortable and know that everything is closed up now.”
Lyle is accused of shooting two school administrators shortly before 10 a.m. when they searched him for weapons, which is a daily requirement due to the boy’s behavioral issues.
Last year, the adolescent was transferred to the high school after being expelled from a nearby Aurora school for unspecified violations of school policies.
One of the victims was released from the hospital several hours later, but the second administrator is still in critical condition.
