
After losing to India by 228 runs at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Pakistan has moved up to third place on the Super 4s of the Asia Cup 2023 points chart.
With two points and a run rate of +4.560, India currently leads the points standings. Sri Lanka is in second place with two points and a run rate of +0.420.
On the second day of the rain-delayed match, the Rohit Sharma-led team defeated Pakistan admirably, dominating the opposition in every facet.
The Men in Blue, who were given the opportunity to bat first, amassed a massive total of 357 runs in the allotted 50 overs thanks to an outstanding performance from the top-order.
The top scorer was still Virat Kohli with 122*, followed by KL Rahul with 111*, the opening batters Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill with each scoring a half-century.
Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed by the Men in Green in response after scoring 17 runs, and Babar Azam, the captain, also failed to control the Indian bowling attack by scoring only 10 runs.
Iftikhar Ahmed and Salman Agha both scored 23 runs, but Fakhar Zaman continued to lead Pakistan in scoring with 27 runs. Pakistan was bowled out for only 128 runs thanks to Kuldeep Yadav’s five wickets for India.
The winner of today’s match between India and Sri Lanka will advance to the tournament’s final.
