With the upcoming iPhone 15 series, Apple is reportedly planning to release wired EarPods that support a USB Type-C connector. Future iPhones from the Cupertino-based tech giant are already anticipated to support USB Type-C connectivity. Apple still offers wired earbuds that either have a Lightning connector or an adapter for the 3.5mm headphone jack. Their use has been less widespread than that of the tech company’s wireless AirPods, which debuted in 2016.
According to reliable tipper ShrimpApplePro, Apple has begun producing wired EarPods with USB Type-C connectors in large quantities. He continued by saying that the business also manufactures MFi USB Type-C cables. The tipper previously tweeted that Foxconn had begun mass-producing accessories like USB Type-C cables and EarPods.
Apple currently sells wired earbuds for $19, which come with a Lightning connector or a 3.5mm headphone jack adapter. The wireless AirPods, which were introduced in 2016, are more well-liked among Apple users. Apple users will now be able to plug in wired EarPods directly to the upcoming iPhones, which are also anticipated to switch to USB Type-C ports, thanks to the release of the accessory’s USB Type-C connectivity.
The Cupertino tech giant previously included a 3.5mm audio jack for wired earbud connectivity on iPhones. However, Apple began offering Lightning-powered EarPods with the release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Additionally, a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter was included with the smartphones.
As previously reported, the USB Type-C port on the upcoming iPhone 15 models will support fast charging with an MFi-certified charger, according to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Additionally, the business is said to be optimistic about a rise in demand for 20W USB Type-C chargers in 2023’s Q2 and Q3 quarters.
