Anthony Bass, a pitcher for the Blue Jays, has a problem with United Airlines.
The 35-year-old Bass vented his annoyance on Twitter, alleging that a flight attendant on a United Airlines trip forced his pregnant wife to go on the floor and clean up the mess his 2-year-old daughter had caused.
“The flight attendant @united just made my 22 week pregnant wife traveling with a 5 year old and 2 year old get on her hands and knees to pick up the popcorn mess by my youngest daughter,” Bass tweeted. “Are you kidding me?!?!”
Sydney Rae James, the spouse of former Jets wide receiver Eric Decker, is the sister of Jessie James Decker, who is the spouse of Bass.
The majority of Twitter commenters were not sympathetic to Bass’ situation.
“Genuinely curious who should clean up the mess your 2 year old made?” one person asked in a reply. “As a parent of three kids I am the one responsible for them.”
Bass responded, “The cleaning crew they hire!”

The finance meme account Litquidity told Bass, “I love how this tweet backfired on you spectacularly and you look like the mega a–hole here lmao.”
“Since you have money to burn & aren’t teaching your kids no one owes them anything, why don’t you hire a maid to travel w/ you?” asked Twitter user Ariaa Jaeger. “You’re the reason we pay more for airline tickets, you take no personal [responsibility] & are raising kids to blame others for their mess.”
Bass has appeared in seven games for the Blue Jays this season and so far has struggled with a 7.11 ERA in 6 ⅓ innings.
Bass had 73 total appearances with the Marlins and Blue Jays last season, recording a 1.54 ERA, 73 strikeouts, and 70 13 innings pitched.
His career WHIP is 1.284 and ERA is 3.91.
Bass also pitched for the Padres, Astros, Rangers, Cubs, Mariners, and Marlins during the course of his 12-year career.
