The 22-year-old woman’s family is grieving her passing after she committed herself last month while battling Lyme illness.
According to her father’s online post last week, Amelie Champagne spent years trying to figure out what was wrong before receiving a positive diagnosis for the disease in June.
Alain Champagne, a manager in Montreal, Quebec, posted on LinkedIn that “over time and despite the recent therapies, the condition had grown much beyond the numerous physical symptoms and was now significantly hurting her brain.”
“Lyme essentially highjacked her…She was so courageous throughout this ordeal … she decided to free herself from the unbearable pain. We are confident she is now in peace.”
