The Samsung Galaxy S23 prompts you to set up the fingerprint sensor because it’s such an important security feature when you first set up your new phone. And it makes sense why Samsung is so eager for you to utilize the biometric features of the Galaxy S23. You may utilize the under-display sensor to unlock your Galaxy S23 if your fingerprint has been saved there. Your smartphone purchases may also be authenticated using a fingerprint.
Don’t panic if you forgot to set up your Galaxy S23’s fingerprint sensor when you first got it. The fingerprint sensor may be easily configured afterward. Also, you may add up to four fingerprints to your Galaxy S23 to increase your unlocking options.
This how-to will show you how to configure the fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S23 so you can safeguard the sensitive data kept on your phone.
Setting Fingerprint Sensor on Galaxy S23:
Check that the Galaxy S23 screen protector you intend to use is compatible with your phone’s display reader before continuing. You might need to re-register your fingerprint if you already had it registered before putting on the screen protector.
1. Go to Security, then Privacy:
Open the Settings app, then select Security and privacy from the list of options.
2. Select Biometrics, then Fingerprints:
Choose Biometrics while you are on the Security and Privacy Settings screen. Next, choose Fingerprints. (You can also enable facial recognition on your Galaxy S23 from this screen, but that is a how-to for another time.)
3. Set a Secure Screen Lock:
Your Galaxy S23 will urge you to establish a secure lock screen if this is your first time registering a fingerprint with it and you haven’t previously done so. Choose PIN, Password, or Pattern as your backup unlocking method.
I decided on PIN for this how-to. In order to validate your choice of PIN, enter it twice after following the on-screen prompts. You may then move on to setting up the fingerprint sensor.
4. Register your Fingerprint:
To register your fingerprint, choose Register and adhere to the on-screen directions. The phone will ask you to repeatedly touch your finger on the screen until it identifies your whole fingerprint. Your progress will be displayed using a percentage reader.
5. Add another fingerprint or quit:
You will be given the choice to add another fingerprint or tell the phone you’re finished once 100% of your fingerprint has been registered. You will need to repeat step 4 if you decide to add another.
6. Remove a fingerprint:
If you subsequently wish to delete a fingerprint, go to step 2’s Biometrics panel and choose Fingerprints. Using a tap, choose the fingerprint you wish to delete, and then click Delete in the top right corner. On this page, you can also change the name of the stored fingerprint.
