Restarting the Samsung Galaxy S23 can be a useful troubleshooting technique. Restarting the phone can fix a variety of minor problems that might otherwise be affecting how the Galaxy S23 functions if you’re experiencing sluggish performance or if it has frozen. Actually, restarting a computer is the same thing, and a smartphone is nothing more than a miniature computer that fits in the palm of your hand.

Since the restart procedure hasn’t changed at all from recent Galaxy S models, it should be pretty familiar to Galaxy users. Our guide on how to restart the Samsung Galaxy S23, however, can walk you through a really simple procedure if you’re new to Samsung’s flagship phones or if you’ve simply forgotten the steps.

Pressing a few of the Galaxy S23’s physical buttons or accessing the Quick Settings menu are your two options for restarting the device. If your phone has frozen, the former approach is a good one, but both are equally effective. Both methods for restarting the Samsung Galaxy S23 will be demonstrated.

How to use buttons to restart the Samsung Galaxy S23

This tutorial shows you how to restart a Samsung Galaxy S23 using the base model, though the same techniques also apply to Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

1. Firmly press and hold the volume down and power buttons:

Press and hold the volume down and power buttons on the Galaxy S23’s right side simultaneously. Holding them must continue until the Step No. 2 menu appears. Otherwise, your Galaxy S23 has just taken a screenshot.

2. Select Restart:

A menu with the options to turn off, restart, or make an emergency call should appear after holding down the power and volume down buttons for 3 seconds. Select Restart by tapping it.

3. Tap Restart Again to Confirm:

Restarting your Galaxy S23 requires one more tap on the button. If not, tap somewhere else on the screen to close it.

How to use the Quick Settings menu to Restart the Samsung Galaxy S23

A Samsung Galaxy S23 (or Plus or Ultra) can be restarted in a variety of ways, and this one involves the Quick Settings menu.

1. Activate the Quick Settings menu:

To access the Quick Settings menu on the Galaxy S23, swipe down from the top of the screen. To access the full menu, swipe down once more.

2. Select the Power icon:

You can find a row of icons in the Quick Settings screen’s upper right corner. The circular icon between the Search icon and the Settings gear is the Power icon; simply tap it.

3. Choose Restart.

The Power Off, Restart, and Emergency Call options will all be available on the same restart menu that was shown above. To confirm, tap Restart once and again.

Now that you are aware of both techniques for restarting your Samsung Galaxy S23.
