Formerly known as the “sexiest athlete in the world,” Alica Schmidt has now been included on Forbes’ prestigious “30 under 30” list.
Schmidt, an athletic beauty, has developed a significant online following by posting pictures of her life outside of track and field.
The 24-year-old is now included in Forbes’ top list after gaining more than 3.3 million followers on her Instagram account.
Hugely successful entrepreneurs under 30 are included in Forbes’ list.
Schmidt expressed her happiness over the news on her Instagram story, writing, “This means so much to me.”
In her Instagram bio, Schmidt now proudly displays the Forbes “30 under 30” designation. Additionally, the Australian magazine Busted Coverage named her the “world’s sexiest athlete” in 2017.
However, Schmidt insists she is not a fan of the ‘subjective’ tag. “This title doesn’t mean anything to me,” she told The Sun.
“It’s based on a subjective opinion of someone else judging the appearance of a person. I like to think that beauty comes from the inside!”
Schmidt’s increasing career as a track competitor and her growing recognition as an influencer go hand in hand.
The 400m champion competed at the Tokyo Olympics last year but regrettably did not make the German team.
Schmidt, while riding the wave of her recent online fame and balancing a hard degree, is still committed to realising her Olympic dream.
“My goal is to make it to the Olympics in Paris in 2024 and become faster,” she said.
“I’m also still studying and looking forward to get my bachelor’s degree in communication and media design.”
She added: “Being on the track, trying to push my myself to the absolute limit, that’s the feeling I live for. It means that I have to sacrifice a lot of things yes, but to me it’s absolutely worth it, as I need athletics to live and breathe.”
