An influential police officer is in hot water after the fallout from uploading footage of herself in uniform months ago.
The video, which was first published in January but is still a heated topic of discussion, shows Alba Mattos in full uniform, complete with assault rifle. She posed in front of a police cruiser in the brief video, proudly showing off her new outfit to the tune of Numb/ Encore by Jay-Z and Linkin Park.
At the time, she asked her followers: “Do you like the new uniform? Leave ur comment.” She also explained that PMBA Uniform Regulation Standing Review Committee “considered economy, functionality, modernization and respect for institutional values as driving forces for the improved uniform”.
Alba, who works for the 15th Battalion of the Military Police of Itabuna in the Brazilian state of Bahia, was later charged with breaking police conduct guidelines months after posting the video online.
The young woman, who has over 52,000 Instagram followers, frequently posts comments urging women to seek military jobs as well as inspiring videos.
However, earlier this week, on September 19th, she expressed surprise after learning that the clip she posted violated the force’s code of conduct – eight months after it was originally posted.
She did, however, appear to have a new flood of supporters after appearing on Brazilian TV to discuss the punishment that she may face, which is unknown at this moment.
One poster wrote: “So many men do it and no one has ever been bothered, right? All it takes is a beautiful, intelligent being and to make you uncomfortable… Hypocrisy, isn’t it? Slick and powerful.”
“She became more beautiful,” another commented. Someone else wrote: “Perfect, congratulations warrior, beautiful and wonderful.”
Mattos has since said: “Due to the great repercussion it had, and even without it having been reported formally or informally, I have already contacted my legal adviser.”
