The couple who stayed there left the gas on and the faucets running, leaving the Airbnb host with a $1,570 bill. The guests allegedly did this as retaliation for being unable to cancel their reservation. The Chinese couple had flown to South Korea and spent 25 days there to exact revenge on the host. The incident resulted in a high utility bill for the host, Mr. Lee.
Both of them, according to Mr. Lee, handled everything independently and never communicated with him or Airbnb. To find out if there were any security cameras on the property, they initially contacted the host. After Mr. Lee claimed there weren’t any, they turned on as many lights, taps, electrical appliances, and gas taps as they could.
The host also mentioned that instead of staying at the hotel, the two traveled around South Korea. They only returned five times in 25 days, staying each time for only five minutes, according to Mr. Lee.
