Students from Pakistan’s flood-affected regions will receive a single semester fee reduction, according to the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).
The AIOU’s Directorate of Public Relations (PR) sent out a notification in this regard on Friday.
According to specifics, during the current admissions for the fall semester of 2022, students who are currently enrolled in matric and inter at the university’s campuses in Sindh (aside from Karachi), Balochistan, Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan), and Dera Ghazi Khan (DG Khan) will receive a complete fee waiver.
Additionally, students pursuing the Associate Degree in Arts (ADA) in the aforementioned areas will receive a 50% semester fee discount.
It is important to note that matric and inter students who have already paid their fees will receive reimbursement in the next 2023 spring semester.
In accordance with the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the AIOU, Prof. Dr. Zia Al Qayyum, the university has also established 30 relief camps in the flood-affected areas where the flood victims are receiving medical assistance, daily necessities, clothing, shoes, and rations, among other things.
Additionally, the Academic Staff Association (ASA) and Employees Welfare Associations (EWA) gave the flood victims Rs. 3.5 million in cash, tents, clothing, food, and medicine.
