At the Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium in Bahrain last night during the ongoing AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2024 qualifiers, Japan defeated Pakistan 6-0.
Ryuya Nishio scored the game’s first goal following a corner kick in the 11th minute to give the 2016 champions the lead over the Green Shirts.
Prior to the first half’s end, Japan made a strong start, scoring twice in a span of four minutes (Shunsuke Mito in the 43rd and Mao Hosoya in the 45th).
With a penalty conversion by Hosoya in the 51st minute and an additional goal by Fujita eight minutes later, the story for Japan in the second half remained the same.
In the 64th minute of the game, Shunsuke Mito scored his second goal to make the score 6-0, capping off a commanding performance.
On September 9 and September 12, respectively, the Men in Green will play Bahrain and Palestine, with the top two teams moving on to the next round.
