Qavi Khan, a well-known Pakistani actor, died in Canada, where he was receiving treatment, Arts Council Karachi President Muhammad Ahmad Shah confirmed late on Sunday. He was 80.
“Qavi had been unwell recently,” Shah said. He prayed that may God rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
Shah referred to the late actor as a “great actor who had left an indelible mark on the showbiz industry” as a nod to his prowess and talent.
Regarding his accomplishments, the arts council president stated that Khan received the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, PTV Lifetime Achievement Award, and Radio Pakistan Lifetime Achievement Award.
Adnan Qavi, the legendary actor’s son, told Geo News in Canada that the time and other details of his father’s funeral prayer would be announced later.
The charismatic actor, who received the President’s Award for Pride of Performance, appeared in approximately 200 films. He also appeared in a slew of hit TV shows, radio dramas, and stage plays.
