Social media has seen a resurgence of the tale of an elderly Saudi man who has been unable to sleep for decades. In a recent televised interview, 70-year-old Saud Bin Muhammad Al-Ghamdi discussed his condition and said that doctors have not been able to find a cure.

Many people have been enthralled by Al-Ghamdi’s tale, though some have compared it to a fantasy because of how peculiar his lack of sleep was. Al-Ghamdi has sought medical attention, but he still struggles with his illness, which frequently makes him irritable.

He first discussed his insomnia in 2018, garnering interest on social media at the time. His most recent interview reignited interest in his tale, and he revealed that he had not slept through the night for more than 30 years without realizing why. He clarified that he is healthy mentally and does not have any mental illnesses.

Al-Ghamdi, who had served in the military, recalled going almost twenty days without sleeping while on a mission when he was younger. Nevertheless, the issue persisted all of his life.

Al-Ghamdi’s condition didn’t get better despite going to several hospitals and getting different treatments, which left him feeling uncomfortable and anxious all the time. Some medical professionals diagnosed him with psychological depression, but the recommended treatments had no effect. He also turned to religious leaders for advice, but nothing changed.

Social media users varied in their reactions to the revelation; some were surprised, while others questioned the veracity of the claim. People who understood the situation offered their best wishes as well as suggestions for potential treatments, such as cutting back on sugar and avoiding tea before bed. Someone suggested traveling abroad for medical care in order to receive a thorough examination from doctors and specialists.

People have been discussing the incident on Saudi social networking sites, sharing their opinions and expressing support for Al-Ghamdi as he looks for a cure for his insomnia.
