Due to the worsening smog and air quality in the provincial capital of Lahore, the government of Punjab has declared three weekly holidays for schools in Lahore (closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
The provincial government has notified all private and public schools in District Lahore that they must continue to be closed every Friday and Saturday in addition to the Sunday weekly holiday until further orders, according to the specifics.
In order to counteract the growing haze in the provincial capital, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the Punjab Government to notify the closure of schools in Lahore for at least three days.
The city’s smog situation has been referred to as a “calamity” by Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, the Chief Minister of Punjab, who also said that every effort should be made to control the issue.
It is important to note that according to IQAir, Lahore is one of the most polluted cities in the world, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) that typically ranges between 300 and 350 from October to February.
As a result, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered that Lahore observe three weekly holidays every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until further notice.
